I see a lot of posts saying that SW Rebels animation does not live up to the Clone Wars. It’s true but keep it mind that Lucas was personally funding that show. This is a unique position for a tv show to be in.
Rebels looks pretty good most of the time and stunning at other times. I think in exchange for the higher quality animation, we’re going to get a lot of things missing in the Clone wars such as an ongoing story line that takes advantage of the tv format.

Sir, you are about to get a lesson in 2k3.
Most people in my age group grew up with the 2k3 turtles which is a reason why some people preferred it but lets get down to the real reason why this show was so fucking fantastic and so underrated.
The set up.
This series is not like the 87’ or the 2k12. Each episode has a meaning to the plot. Each one connects with one another.
It all put together so well with each of them having either a message or something that expands the story. Even the small christmas special with Klunk.
The theme/ feel
This show is a emotional fucking roller coaster. Like one minute its super cute and funny with quirky one liners and the next it’s filled with so much angst and pain and it just keeps you on your toes. there were points in this show it was just insanely dark but amazingly done. It just brings out the actual emotion of the characters.
Leonardo is my favorite with this because his character goes through so many changes through the entire series and has so many life lessons it’s insane. Same with Raphael where you can see he becomes more and more protective of his brothers and his anger actually gets better under control as the series goes through.
Donatello is awesome in this because he remains at all times the guy with the answers. Well, until he gets mutated again into a freaky turtle monster but that’s besides the point.
Mikey..THE BATTLE NEXUS CHAMPION!!! This will always be one of my favorite carnations because he isn’t dumb in this series. He’s just immature. He’s actually very bright and he is an amazing fighter. He’s just insanely lazy.
The Fucking Villains.
NONE of them are a joke! (Well unless you count the Garbage man but he was just nasty)
But seriously, these guys all meant business. Like their meaning was to eliminate the turtles. The Shredder was the darkest of them all. He isn’t like the 2k12 shredder where he was fueled by wanting revenge against Splinter. No it goes waaaayyyyy deeper then just a rivalry. He wanted to take over the universe and destroyed anything that got in his way. THERE WAS DEATH IN THIS SHOW!!
Karai was the best in this series. I love her conflicting feelings between he honor for her father and the honor she has for Bushido. She is a good character who is conflicted with good and evil.
Same As It Never Was. One of the most emotional and heartbreaking episodes that will ever be seen in the Turtle Franchise history. If you have never seen the 2k3 series, take the time to see this series at least! It’s amazing and it was so well done. I swear it needed like another spin off.
Overall the 2k3 series was one of those series where you could literally get emotionally attached . The adult themes mixed with the child humor was perfect. I feel though it was very underatted during it’s time.
And THATS Why the 2k3 series was awesome.
